The Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP Investments) is a crown corporation established by Parliament by the Public Sector Pension Investment Board Act (September 1999). The mandate of PSP Investments is to manage employer and employee contributions made after April 1, 2000 to the federal Public Service, the Canadian Forces and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police pension funds. PSP Investments has recently been given the mandate to manage the employer and employee contributions made after March 1, 2007 to the Reserve Force Pension Fund. Annual net contributions to these pension funds are approximately $4 billion and forecasted net contributions are expected to remain positive until 2030. Assets are invested through in-house and external managers.

POSITION PROFILE

CORE ACCOUNTABILITY

Reporting to the Vice President, Communications and Government Relations, the successful candidate will develop strategies and implement integrated communication plans mainly internally for employees, but also externally for the Canadian government, pension fund advisory committees, the media and the general public. He or she will organize events, prepare presentations and produce internal and external print and electronic publications. He or she will plan, manage and draft portal content to create a relevant internal communication tool.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create internal and external communication tools and coordinate their production and ensure they are coherent.
  • Plan and manage content for the portal.
  • Coordinate the production of the annual report.
  • Advise department managers on communications by maintaining good relationships with them and ensuring the effectiveness of internal communication.
  • Perform research and collect information internally to write content for communications within the company.
  • Manage communication projects with suppliers; track activities and budgets.
  • Organize and participate in corporate communication activities (biannual employee meetings, annual meeting, social club).
  • Manage website content; ensure it is relevant and up-to-date.
  • Monitor communication activities in the financial sector.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • BA in communications, public relations, journalism or equivalent.

Experience

  • Five to seven years of relevant experience, preferably in the financial sector.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Perfectly bilingual (oral and written French and English).
  • Knowledge of pension funds, finance or investing an asset.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian political system an asset.
  • Proficiency with office software (MS Office), Internet software
